About This Course
Designed for photographers who already have the basics down and want to work toward doing this professionally. You'll sharpen your technical skills, develop a personal style, and start building the portfolio and reputation that sought-after photographers rely on.
Alongside the creative work, you'll get an introduction to the practical side of going professional — from working with clients to presenting your work with confidence.
Come into this course having already completed the Certificate in Photography or with equivalent hands-on experience — the pace assumes you're comfortable with camera fundamentals already. What You'll Learn
Module 1
Advanced Technique
Revisit the exposure triangle — aperture, shutter speed and ISO — at a professional level, using manual modes with intent to blur movement, freeze action or control depth of field on demand, and pre-visualise a shot before you take it, including in low light and challenging focus situations.
Module 2
Advanced Lighting & Location Work
Direct and shape light across studio and location shoots, reading natural light's colour, direction and quality at different times of day, then bringing artificial light in when a location won't cooperate — and adapting technique on the fly when conditions aren't ideal.
Module 3
Advanced RAW Workflow
A professional-grade Lightroom and Photoshop workflow for processing a full shoot efficiently without sacrificing quality — working RAW files with layers, filters and colour correction, then a Lightroom cataloguing workflow that processes an entire shoot with speed and purpose, including presets, adjustment brushes and selective colour effects.
Module 4
Working With Clients
Learn how to brief, direct and deliver for a real client — managing expectations, communicating through a shoot, and delivering a finished set of images a client is genuinely happy with.
Module 5
A Portfolio That Sells
Curate and present a portfolio built to attract paid work — developing your own creative point of view and choosing the images that show a prospective client exactly what you can do for them.
Module 6
Pricing & Business Basics
An introduction to pricing your work and the fundamentals of running a photography business, so the business side doesn't catch you off guard once the creative side is sorted.
Module 7
The Business & History of Photography
Context on how the industry got here, alongside the practical business grounding that underpins a sustainable practice — understanding where the craft came from helps you position your own work within it.
