Building a professional portfolio in Palmerston North
Agriculture is the second market: the Feilding sale yards, Central Districts Field Days in March, and the rural suppliers and agri-science businesses that make the Manawatū a farming service centre all buy commercial photography. Livestock, machinery and farm people in real light belong in the portfolio. Residential property is a steady, mid-sized market in the city and in Feilding and Ashhurst, and the region's large student population means constant demand for affordable portraits and headshots.
Te Manawa and Square Edge show local work; the Manawatū Camera Club's exhibitions and the NZIPP Iris Awards are the benchmarks. The Business Photography Course follows this one for pricing and client management, which matters here because institutional clients buy formally.
