Practising in Tauranga
Building a professional portfolio in Tauranga
Tauranga's steadiest paid work is property. One of the fastest-growing cities in the country, with new subdivisions at Pāpāmoa, Ōmokoroa and Te Puke and constant churn in coastal listings, needs real-estate photography every week, and the premium here is on twilight exteriors, drone work and clean interiors that hold detail against bright windows. A professional portfolio should show all three; practise on a friend's home and on the new-build streets at golden hour.
Tauranga Art Gallery and The Incubator show local work; the NZIPP Waikato/Bay of Plenty region and the Iris Awards are the professional benchmark. The Business Photography Course follows this one for pricing and client management.

“I have just completed my Professional Photography course. Deb was my tutor and she was very helpful and quick to respond. The course information was very easy to understand and 'the work at your own pace' curriculum was super helpful being a Mum of 2.”
