Practising in Dunedin
Videography in Dunedin
Dunedin's practice subjects are slow, big and beautiful, which suits a beginner. The harbour ferry and the boats out of Port Chalmers give you tracking and establishing shots; the Peninsula at dawn gives you time-lapse of fog lifting off Hoopers Inlet; sea lions on Allans Beach give you your first wildlife sequence, shot from a distance with a long lens; and the Railway Station at dusk gives you a lit heritage building to practise exposure and movement around. The aurora, on the right winter night, is a time-lapse subject few students anywhere else can attempt.
Sound is the module that Dunedin's wind and surf teach quickly; recording a piece to camera at St Clair and then in the shelter of the Octagon shows why microphones and locations matter.

What Our Students Say
“I found the course very informative and really enjoyed how I could do each module at my own pace. Deb was very responsive and provided valuable and encouraging feedback. I especially liked how detailed the Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom modules were and the video resources. The course has definitely given me a solid foundation to build upon and I realise I am heading in the right direction with photography.”
Kylie
