The practice subjects are strong: the Cable Car climbing through the city for tracking and motion, the ferries and the harbour for wide establishing shots, Cuba Street for handheld street footage, and the south coast at Lyall Bay for surfers and aircraft on approach.
Audio is the module Wellington students remember. Recording a short piece to camera on the waterfront, then in a sheltered laneway, then indoors, shows you exactly why the course spends time on microphones, wind protection and choosing a location for sound before you choose it for the picture.
