Portrait photography in Auckland
Auckland's portrait backdrops come in three kinds. Parks with open shade: Cornwall Park's avenues and paddocks, the Domain's big trees and the Wintergardens for soft light on a wet day. Urban texture: Britomart's laneways and Karangahape Road's colour give you even light and interesting walls, and they are where Auckland's headshot photographers actually work. Coast and drama: Piha, Muriwai and Bethells give you wind, black sand and huge skies for environmental portraits, at the cost of a 45-minute drive and a harder exposure problem, which is good practice.
