Business Photography Course in Wellington
The Business Photography Course is about pricing, clients and running the work as a business, and Wellington rewards it in a particular way: many of the city's biggest photography buyers procure formally and prefer photographers who quote, invoice and license like a business.

Practising in Wellington
Running a photography business in Wellington
Wellington's photography buyers are unusual in New Zealand: a large share are government departments, Crown entities, universities and the professional-services firms around them. They buy portraits, events and communications imagery on a regular cycle, but they buy through processes: a brief, a quote with clear terms, sometimes a supplier panel. The course's pricing and contracts modules map directly onto that. Students here learn to write a quote that separates shooting time from licensing, to explain usage rights to a communications manager, and to invoice with GST in a format a finance team will pay on time.
The other Wellington markets, the screen industry, conferences at Tākina and the waterfront venues, hospitality on Cuba Street and weddings in the Wairarapa, are found through networks: the venues, the production companies, the Chamber of Commerce and creative-industry groups. Wellington is small enough that reputation travels fast in both directions.
